Over at Percys Grow Room, we help growers fix cannabis plant deficiencies. What you will find, is the same 5 mistakes new growers make.
Having constant issues with a cannabis plant can take the fun out of growing. So here a 5 Mistakes New Cannabis Growers Make. Keep track of these, and you should be able to grow some amazing top shelf cannabis.
1: Overwatering a Cannabis Plant.
When growing cannabis in soil, it is very easy to over water your plants! Cannabis plants need air to reach their roots as much as they do water and food. If the soil is always wet, the roots will not be able to breathe! Let your medium dry out in between watering and feeding your plants.
Try lifting the pot, to see if it feels light before watering. The cannabis plant prefers a wet and dry cycle. Don’t let the medium dry out fully though! A little moisture is good as it keeps your microbes alive, and they help your plant eat.
2: Over Feeding Marijuana Plants
A common mistake growers make, is over feeding their plants. If you see symptoms of nutrients excess, ou need to back off your feed immediately! It is much easier to fix an under fed plant, than it is to fix and over fed one!
Watching you feed will ensure your plant eats healthily through its life cycle, and when harvested, it will not be full of built up salts and foods. This will give you a smoother cleaner smoke, and less flush time at the end of the grow.
3: Harvesting too soon!
This happens far too often! If you do not know when you cannabis plant is ready for harvest, you will not have chopped her down at the right time. Chop here too soon, and the THC will be immature. This will not give you the full effect of the high, and will cause you paranoia and anxiety.
If left for too long, the THC will start to degrade, and you plant will start to die. This will increase your chances of mould and rot, that will ruin your harvest.
To ensure you’re chopping at the right time, you have to check the “Trichomes”. Those are the thc crystals on your buds. If they are clear, they are not ready. They are matured when they are all milky. Amber trichomes are the first signs of degradation. To know more about hen to harvest a cannabis plant, check out Percys Guide to Harvesting: Here
Most growers will chop at around 90% milky, and 10% amber for a good allround high.
4. Growing ” Bag Seed”
I love to see people growing their own cannabis! It takes money off the black market and helps people reconnect with nature. But one thing I really don’t like to see is when people pop bag seed.
Cannabis seeds are cheap, easily available, and in many cases free! By buying cannabis seeds from a good seed bank such as Dutch Passion, you are 100% certain to get what you have bought. Any one of their awesome strains can be yours, for anything from $3-$15!! You should really only invest in the best strains. here’s why;
A bag seed would have come from a plant that was most likely, hermaphrodite. This means, that seed is carrying those “hermy” genes, and most likely, will grow seed of its own. It could be male, it could be any strain. Buying with seed banks like Dutch Passion will ensure your months of work are not wasted because you cut the first corner! Only buy the very best genetics!
Most importantly – Not asking for help!!!
Because growing cannabis is still illegal in many places around the world, growers tend to keep their hobby to themselves. It’s time for that stigma to change! Join a cannabis growers forum, and talk about your hobby! Never reveal your real name, and contact details, and always stay safe.
