Interacting with many of you on Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook, there seems to be a common question that is consistently asked. Does cooking cannabis over 180 degrees Celsius (350F) destroy it?

The short answer is no, but, you have to be careful as to what types of recipes you use when cooking cannabis at higher temperatures. For example, the Cloudy Kitchen cannabis-butter chicken breasts are cooked at 160 degrees Celsius (325F) and a homemade cannabis-infused pizza is cooked at 220 degrees Celsius (425F).

Decarbing cannabis before making edibles is an important process in making edibles. Although there are different recommended temperatures and time for decarbing, the temperature should NEVER reach over 180C (350F).

At higher temperatures, combustion starts to occur and the cannabis becomes somewhat useless.

Using vaped marijuana in edibles has become commonplace in the Cloudy Kitchen. As long as you keep your vaporizer between 150-227 Celsius (315-440F ), the vaped cannabis is 100% fine to use in edibles. This also serves as a de-carbing process, and you still get to consume your marijuana.

Vaped marijuana also contains more of the cannabinoid CBN, which is created when THC is heated. Also, CBN has been found to have positive effects on skin cells in people with psoriasis. Not to mention, CBN also helps to alleviate inflammation and swelling associated with arthritis and other ailments.

Cooking Marijuana – Why Is Vaped Weed So Effective in Edibles?

The CBN cannabinoid is a known sedative and medical research has shown that just 5 milligrams of the CBN cannabinoid can be as powerful as 10 milligrams of pharmaceutical sedatives like diazepam. These chemical reactions create strong edibles that will give the consumer a sleepy effect. Although CBN does not bind as well as THC and CBD to the cannabinoid receptors in the body, CBN has a very powerful sedative effect.

Slow-cooking with cannabis butter is my personal favourite. Curries, stews, and whole chickens in the slow cooker with cannabis butter work great. Not to mention, you can leave the slow-cooker on and return to a house that smells amazing.

As mentioned, if you are using vaped marijuana in edibles, keep your vaporizer under 227 Celsius (440F).
